Last night after my husband and my failed attempt at ice skating, we headed back into Wellington to hit up Kontiki for some sake and sushi. We arrived just as the DJ was setting up for their Saturday Night Dance Party around 8:30pm. There was a decent crowd at the restaurant; I would say it was about half full. We had wanted to sit at the bar. Something we used to always do before we had our baby. But upon arrival there were only seats open at the sushi bar. Since Kontiki doesn’t have your typical uncomfortable IN YOUR FACE type of Sushi Bar we decided to sit there.

We ordered our hot sake and browsed the menu deciding what to order. For our first round we decided on the Black Tie Plate for $26 which included two spring rolls, two steamed dumplings, two skewers of chicken satay, two curry tulips, two coconut shrimp crisps with fruit.

From there we ordered some miso soup, edamame, a spicy tuna roll and a spicy crab roll. All the food was delicious.

We enjoyed our dinner and drinks at Kontiki. The “Dance Party” however was pretty lacking. The DJ played a good mix of classic 80’s dance music and today’s pop/dance music. We headed out around 10:00pm and there had only been two women who wondered out on to the dance floor for a few minutes of dancing. Maybe they wanted to move around a little so they could order more delicious food!
